Today we attended a Business Networking Event hosted by the National Party.  Jonathan Coleman is the local MP and current Minister of Immigration who organised it, and provided a Hon Tim Groser, the Minister of Trade and Associate Minister of Foreign Affairs, as the guest speaker.

It was an interesting talk on the National party's strategy for developing New Zealand Economically, and it appears that they are committed to bringing prosperity to New Zealand.

Employment Process

posted Jun 7, 2011 6:51 PM by Mia Lozano

We are currently partnered with a number of employers and recruitment agents.  We are currently assisting them finding candidates, especially for positions that are difficult to fill in New Zealand.

These jobs are listed in our jobs listing page:
Hot Jobs - Apply Now!

As well as processing the immigration matters, we are acting as a "middle man" between the candidates and the employers/recruiters.  Part of our service to the employers/recruiters involves doing a non-technical  pre-interview with the candidates to ascertain their level of English, client-facing skills and New Zealand immigration eligibility.

During this pre-interview, we also discuss the approximate costs, our services, and other information that we are able to disclose at the time about the employer.

Once we are satisfied that the candidate is appropriate for the position, we will forward them to the employers/recruiters for the second part of the interview.

Typically, once this happens, the recruiter will perform a basic interview, which may include technical elements.  If the recruiter is happy, s/he will forward the candidate to the actual employer.  The employer may want to conduct two interviews themselves.  Normally the hiring manager will speak to the candidate, and if s/he is satisfied, then s/he will refer the candidate to the technical team for a technical interview.

If the employer accepts the candidate, then a job offer will be provided.  At this point, the candidate will be required to sign a consulting agreement with us to process their work visa.

Note that payments for the work visa will be broken down into manageable installments.  The first payment is only payable once the job offer has been received by the candidate.

Interim visas for foreign nationals affected by earthquake

posted Feb 28, 2011 2:28 PM by Mia Lozano

Following Tuesday's earthquake the Minister of Immigration, Jonathan Coleman, has announced that interim visas will be issued to any foreign national whose work, visitor or student visa application is lodged at Immigration New Zealand's Christchurch office.

More than 2000 temporary visa applications are currently lodged at the office in the Crystal Plaza building, which is unable to be accessed for safety reasons.

The interim visas will be valid for six months or until a person's substantive temporary visa application has been decided – whichever date is earlier. The affected foreign nationals will be granted open work, student or visitor conditions depending on the type of temporary visa they applied for:

  • if the application at the INZ Christchurch branch is for a student visa, the applicant will be granted an interim visa that has the same conditions as an 'open' student visa. This means that the visa holder may undertake any course of study in New Zealand.
  • if the application at the INZ Christchurch branch is for a work visa the applicant will be granted an interim visa that has the same conditions as an 'open'  work visa. This means that the visa holder may undertake employment in New Zealand for any employer.
  • if the application at the INZ Christchurch branch is for a visitor visa the applicant will be granted an interim visa that has the same conditions as a visitor visa.

Affected foreign nationals will be sent individual correspondence on this as soon as possible.

Northcote Breakfast Networking

posted Oct 26, 2009 2:50 AM by Joe Chang   [ updated Oct 26, 2009 12:16 PM ]

We recently attended the first Northcote Breakfast Networking event as sponsored by the honorable Jonathan Coleman, who is our local MP and also the Minister of Immigration.  It was a fantastic event, with around thirty other business owners who attended the event.  The main purpose of the meeting was for local business owners to mingle amongst each other as well as for Dr. Coleman to provide some feedback on what the National Government is doing to support small business owners.

Things went very smoothly with an excellent breakfast, and Dr. Coleman took the opportunity to field some questions that covered the concerns of the small gathering of business owners.  I thought that the entire event was really well done, and it was great to see a hard-working politician actually getting out into the field and actively doing his part to support the general small business community.

Update 24 Jan 2010:
Unfortunately, due to lack of time and resources, we have temporarily suspended activity for Chinese Support.  We will reactivate it at a later date.

Immigration Direct is proud to announce that we now also have the facility to support our Chinese clients.  We now have on board with us: Kathleen Cheung and Kee Chang who are taking care of our Mandarin and Cantonese speakers.

We also have a fully translated Chinese website in operation as well.
